Protein complex assembly at focal adhesion sites

The project aims at clarifying the composition and regulation of multiprotein complexes at focal adhesion sites. It is focussed on the investigation of protein-protein interactions of integrins, paxillin and focal adhesion kinase using biochemical analysis, live-cell microscopy, genetic engineering of mammalian cells, and functional assays of cell adhesion and migration. Via chemical synthesis (in collaborative efforts with B08) and high-content screens we will advance novel activity probes for kinases as well as specific inhibitors of protein localization which open up novel avenues to study phosphorylation-dependent control mechanisms orchestrating multiprotein complexes.
